Why Do We Share?
If you’re just sending links to cute videos or funny pictures to share with your friends and family, your sharing strategy really doesn’t matter much.
But if your goal is to build your business, then the purpose of your social sharing is to drive your network of friends, and friends of friends, to YOUR page where you can further develop your relationship and enhance your image as a professional.
Where did your audience go??
Do you know where you are driving your audience? Ask yourself if you have ever lost prospects because you have inadvertently sent them to a competitor’s site?
For example, if you find an interesting post which you want to share on Facebook, or other social media sites, and you share it directly from that site, you are driving your audience back to the source site and NOT YOUR SITE.
Do This Before You Impulsively Share That Post:
Before you share a post, visit the source site and evaluate whether it will foster your goals to send your audience there.
Then ask yourself some strategic questions such as:
- Will sharing directly from the source help build my business?
- When someone clicks on the post, where will you be sending them?
- Is this a competitive site?
- When your audience visits this site based on your recommendation could you lose your prospect?
- Is this a credible site? Your share is a recommendation to visit. You should definitely check it out first.
However, even if it is a credible site:
- Is the information presented on this site credible?
- Even if the info is great and you are excited to share – ask yourself if sending your audience away helps you build YOUR connection to a broader social network?
What Visitors Want
Remember, when your potential audience visits your site, you need to be prepared to support and engage with them. Have your upcoming events posted and visible from multiple areas of your page. Offer them compelling content. Help them with quality services such as emoVite, a great emotional vitality survey tool that also provides you lead generation. Invite them to subscribe to your newsletter. Offer them incentives. It’s all about the “VALUE ADD” that you offer and bring to your visitors.
